— Jessica Brown
Jessica Brown is an experienced writer and editor who specializes in health and medicine. She began her career in the magazine industry. While working at Woman’s Day, Redbook, Parents, Ladies' Home Journal, and other publications, she covered a wide variety of health topics — and much of her work was focused on fitness and nutrition. This work prompted her to pursue several certifications from the American Council on Exercise, including certifications in personal training, fitness nutrition, weight management, and size-inclusive fitness.
Brown decided to leave the magazine world and go freelance in 2014. She has written and edited for many publications and organizations, including Prevention, Self, Johnson & Johnson, Water's Edge Dermatology, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. To enhance her skills, Brown enrolled in the University of Chicago’s medical writing and editing certification program, which she completed in 2016.
Raised in Darien, Connecticut, Brown earned degrees in journalism and cinema studies from New York University and obtained her medical writing and editing certification from the University of Chicago. She also has certifications in personal training, fitness nutrition, weight management, and size-inclusive fitness from the American Council on Exercise.
