India Kushner is a consultant with 6 years of experience in the writing and editing fields and 3 years of experience in marketing and social media. After graduating from college, she interned with HyperVocal, where she wrote articles with a focus on pop culture, news, and politics. She was then an editorial operations intern with Curbed (now part of Vox Media), before working as a communications coordinator with the Online News Association, where she helped market and organize the nonprofit’s annual journalism conference. In 2018, she was accepted as an editorial fellow at The Tempest, where she later served as a staff writer until leaving to pursue full-time work in 2020.
Her writing has been featured in The Tempest, and her poetry has been published in the Corvus Review. She was also a 2020 writer-in-residence at Yellow Arrow Publishing.
She works a full-time position providing administrative assistance for a coworking space, where she has also designed and edited a monthly newsletter on coworking and startup culture. On the side, she has worked as a volunteer submissions editor at the Better Because Collective, where she has helped writers tell their mental health journeys. The volunteer position includes editing and assigning stories, as well as preparing stories for publication.
India is currently excited to connect with her new community, after moving to a new part of Baltimore City.
India has a degree in communications with a focus on journalism from Goucher College.
