Experience

Dr. Heather Farthing is currently practicing emergency medicine in Texas. She works clinical shifts in Austin and in Harlingen. She is also an assistant professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. She is a proud member of the Society of Asylum Medicine. She has published on oncogenesis, HIV, pediatrics, emergency department costs, sexism in medical education, and vaping-associated lung injury. 

Education

Dr. Farthing was a Carolina Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. She spent 2 years as a cancer research trainee at the National Institutes of Health before obtaining her combined MD and MPH at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She attended residency in emergency medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.
