Geralyn Dexter, PhD, LMHC, is an adjunct professor of psychology at Southern New Hampshire University. She is also an expert mental health writer. And her work has been featured in Verywell, Mental Health America, and HealthyPlace.
In addition, Dexter is a licensed clinician specializing in treating anxiety and mood disorders and substance use. She has over 10 years of clinical experience in intensive outpatient centers, community-based settings, private practice, and mental health startups. She is also passionate about research and is a research scholar at the Ronin Institute.
In 2018, Dr. Dexter co-authored a paper about digital interventions, specifically self-guided strategies to improve mental health. Her research interests include suicidal ideation and behavior, non-suicidal self-injury, barriers to assessment and treatment, and therapist emotional responses.
Geralyn Dexter has a PhD in psychology from Northcentral University, a Master of Science degree in mental health counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Florida.
