Angela McPhillips, DNP, RN, has been a registered nurse since 2009. She uses her nursing background and experience as a mom of two to create informative, relatable content for parents.
She has experience in pediatric emergency nursing, school nursing, and child welfare. From 2016 to 2021, McPhillips served as clinical faculty at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Nursing, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses on population health nursing, child development, and school nursing.
McPhillips served as an expert school health consultant and grant writer for the National Association of School Nurses, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Epilepsy Foundation. She was recognized in 2017 as a 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leader by the Illinois Nurses Foundation and in 2018 as an Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) Nurse Educator Fellow.
McPhillips’s work has been published in several scholarly journals and peer-reviewed nursing textbooks.
Angela McPhillips earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing and her master’s and doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Nursing.
She was a 2016-2017 fellow, and subsequent faculty, in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). She is also a nationally certified school nurse and certified breastfeeding specialist.
