What is Thrombotic Microangiopathy?
Thrombotic microangiopathy is a pattern of damage that occurs in small blood vessels in vital organs of the body, commonly the kidneys and the brain. It can cause a wide variety of symptoms, including fatigue, fever, confusion, seizures, kidney dysfunction, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or dark spotting on the skin.
Treatments for thrombotic microangiopathy include medication, plasma exchange, dialysis, and immunosuppression.
