You’re living the dream… you’re your own boss! The downfall is that the United States typically ties health insurance to your employment. As a result, it can be overwhelming to find your own insurance coverage if you’re self-employed. If you don’t qualify for Medicaid (more on that below), you have two main options: sign up for insurance through a private insurance company, or enroll in a plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Finding the right insurance for you and your family can sometimes be daunting. Visit HealthCare.gov or speak to your preferred tax prep company to see what you qualify for.
