Pharmacist tips for Fem pH (acetic acid / oxyquinoline)

pharmacist
  • Carefully look at the medication's packaging before you use it. Fem pH (acetic acid / oxyquinoline) should have a tamper-resistant seal at the opening of the tube. If you're starting a new tube of medication for the first time, don't use it if this seal is missing or broken.

    • To fill the medication into the applicator, screw the applicator clockwise onto the tube, then squeeze the tube to force the jelly into the applicator. Screw the applicator counter-clockwise to remove it from the tube, and replace the cap.

      • To use Fem pH (acetic acid / oxyquinoline), lie on your back with your knees drawn up. Hold the applicator by the barrel and gently insert into the vagina as far as will comfortably go. Then press the plunger and empty the medication into the vagina.

        • Take the applicator apart and wash with warm soapy water after each use.
