This medication is approved for use in people with hemophilia, a bleeding condition in which the blood doesn't clot normally. Cyklokapron works by preventing the breakdown of certain clotting proteins in order to allow your blood to clot. The dose is based on your weight and the medication is given through the vein (intravenously). It's typically given as a single dose before a tooth extraction. It can also be given 3 to 4 times daily for 2 to 8 days after a tooth extraction.

Cyklokapron is only FDA-approved to lower the chance of bleeding before and after tooth extraction. But this medication is used to prevent bleeding in other procedures as well.
