Opioid use disorder is when a person is physiologically and psychologically addicted to opioids. Symptoms include tremors, chills, sweating, itch, restlessness, anxiety, paranoia, nausea, and depression.
The goal of treatment is to reduce dependence. Common drug classes used to treat opioid dependence are opioid agonist/antagonists, opioid antagonists, central alpha agonists, and opioids.
