Blujepa (gepotidacin) is an antibiotic pill used to treat certain common infections, including uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) and gonorrhea in some people 12 years and older. It's the first antibiotic in a new class that works differently from others. The dose is taken twice a day for 5 days for a UTI, or as two high doses 12 hours apart for gonorrhea. Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain.
Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid) is an antibiotic used to treat or prevent a urinary tract infection (UTI). Some side effects include nausea, headache, and gas. It can also make your urine turn dark yellow or brown. Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid) doesn't have many interactions with other medications. There's a lower-cost generic version of nitrofurantoin (Macrobid) available.
