ANGPTL3 (angiopoietin-like 3) Inhibitors are used to treat homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH). They work by helping the body break down fats that lead to high cholesterol.
Angptl3-inhibitors are used to lower bad cholesterol levels in people with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH). Angptl3-inhibitors work by blocking a protein called angiopoietin-like 3 (ANGPTL3) that stops the body from clearing out bad cholesterol. In doing so, angptl3-inhibitors allow the body to remove bad cholesterol. These medications are typically available as infusions. An example of an angptl3-inhibitor is evinacumab (Evkeeza).
EVINACUMAB treats high cholesterol. It works by decreasing bad cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) in your blood. It is a monoclonal antibody. Changes to diet and exercise are often combined with this medication.
