Urea cycle disorders are genetic conditions that affect the enzymes in your body's urea cycle—how your body removes ammonia from the blood stream. Urea cycle disoders can be more or less severe depending on the part of the cycle and the enzymes affected.

Changes to your diet can help, including some supplements, and sodium phenylbutyrate (Buphenyl) is the most common prescription treatment.
