What Is Hypoparathyroidism?

Hypoparathyroidism occurs when there is too little parathyroid hormone (PTH) being produced, leading to abnormal levels of calcium and phosphorus in the body. Symptoms include tingling or burning in the fingertips, toes and lips, muscle aches or cramps, muscle spasmsfatigue, weakness, painful menstrual periods, hair lossdry skin, brittle nails, and anxiety or depression.
