Comprehensive information for you or a loved one — including treatment options and discounts on popular medications.

Hyponatremia refers to an abnomally low concentration of sodium in the blood. It can be a symptom of congestive heart failure, liver failure, or kidney failure, or a result of drinking an excessive amount of water.

Treatment depends on the underlying cause, and may range from treatment of the original condition (e.g. heart failure) to IV saline or fluid restriction, to medications for the management of symptoms.
