The updated Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is one of three COVID vaccines currently available in the U.S. The updated 2023-2024 versions of these vaccines are designed to work against a subvariant of the virus called XBB.1.5. These shots have replaced the original and bivalent formulations. All of the updated vaccines can help prevent severe illness and hospitalization from COVID.
