Maia Kayal, MD, MS, is an assistant professor in the division of gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and The Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. She specializes in the care of those with gastrointestinal illnesses with a focus on ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
Dr. Kayal is also associated with the American College of Gastroenterology and was recently chosen as an American Gastroenterology Association future leader.
Maia Kayal, MD, MS, graduated from New York University School of Medicine with the highest honors and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society.
She then went on to complete her internal medicine residency at Columbia University Medical Center-New York Presbyterian Hospital followed by fellowship training in gastroenterology at the Mount Sinai Hospital, where she served as chief gastroenterology fellow. While at Columbia University, Dr. Kayal also obtained a master’s degree in clinical research in 2021.
