Experience

Anne Jacobson, MD, MPH has been a board-certified family physician since 1999. She worked as a full-scope family physician (inpatient, outpatient, obstetrics, and office procedures) in the Cook County Ambulatory Health Network for 15 years. For 7 years, she also held leadership positions in the network, including clinic medical director and the director of primary care for the outpatient network. She has conducted research into wellness and burnout for healthcare providers and teaches medical students in the areas of professional development and narrative medicine.

For the past 7 years, she has been an independent consultant and worked as a writer, editor, and medical reviewer for digital publications aimed at medical professionals and a lay audience. She is working on a book project based on interviews with physicians on their lived experience, and her writing can be found in a variety of medical and literary journals. Her essays have been published in JAMA; The Washington Post; in the anthology "At the End of Life;" Hektoen International; “The Examined Life;” and others.

Dr. Jacobson is also an affiliate assistant professor in the department of family medicine at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. She serves on the boards of the Portes Foundation in Chicago and WeHaKee Camp for Girls in Winter, Wisconsin. She also volunteers as a tutor for those learning English as a second language at the Dominican Literacy Center in Melrose Park, Illinois. 

Education

Dr. Jacobson received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin and a master's degree in public health from the University of Illinois-Chicago. She completed a residency in family medicine at West Suburban Family Medicine Residency in Oak Park, Illinois and a fellowship in community medicine at PCC Community Wellness in Oak Park.
