Vusion is a topical combination medication that contains miconazole (an antifungal), zinc oxide, and white petrolatum. It's an ointment used to treat diaper rash involving yeast infection in babies and toddlers 4 weeks and older. You'll need to apply Vusion at every diaper change but for no longer than 1 week. It can sometimes cause skin irritation as a side effect. Vusion is available with a prescription from your healthcare professional (HCP), and there's a generic version available.
Diaper rash with yeast infection
Vusion is an ointment that contains miconazole, zinc oxide, and white petrolatum. Miconazole is an antifungal that treats yeast infections by damaging the fungal cell wall. Both zinc oxide and petrolatum create a protective barrier to help prevent friction between the diaper and your baby's skin and protect the skin from moisture that could lead to a diaper rash and infections.

Unknown if safe to use longer than 7 days
Continue to use Vusion for the full 7 days, even if you notice improvement.
It's not known if using Vusion for more than 7 days is safe. Don't use Vusion for more than 7 days. If you don't see any improvement in 7 days or if the symptoms get worse, let your child's pediatrician know.
Wash your hands before and after you apply the medication.
Keep the Vusion tube stored at room temperature.
Since this ointment contains an antifungal (miconazole), it's important that there is a clear diagnosis of a yeast infection prior to using this medication. If used in the absence of a yeast infection, your child can develop resistance to the medication, which means that Vusion won't work as well or at all in the future for an actual yeast infection.
Vusion shouldn't be used to prevent a diaper rash.
Vusion shouldn't be used in place of frequent diaper changes. Regular cleaning of the diaper area and frequent diaper changes are still necessary when using Vusion.
Vusion can cause some serious health issues. This risk may be even higher for certain groups. If this worries you, talk to your doctor or pharmacist about other options.
If skin irritation occurs while using Vusion or if the condition worsens, stop using this medication, and contact your child's pediatrician right away.
