Dr. Merkley is a licensed, board-certified pediatrician who has over a decade of experience working in community health. She is currently a National Health Services Corp scholar, and is serving as the medical director of a school-based health clinic at a federally funded health center.
She has co-founded a health clinic for young adults at a drop-in center in Ohio, where she also participated in advocacy work for the unstably housed youth in her community. Her advocacy work was a part of the curriculum for the Nationwide Children’s residency program, where she lectured for the residents.
Outside of her medical career, Dr. Merkley has co-founded Run Wild Trail Camp which is a nonprofit organization that works to expand access to the outdoors.
Dr. Merkley graduated with a B.S. in biology from Northern Arizona University before heading out to Ohio to attend the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing her osteopathic medical degree she moved a few miles north to start her pediatric residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. After completing this program, she pursued an academic fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Merkley is a fellow of the American Board of Pediatrics.
