Eliquis (apixaban) is used to lower the chance of stroke in people with a medical condition called atrial fibrillation. Eliquis is a direct acting anticoagulant, which works by thinning the blood to prevent blood clots from forming. The most common form of Eliquis is a 2.5mg tablet. It is also avalible as a 5mg tablet. There are currently no generic alternatives for Eliquis.
