Sasha Guttentag, PhD, is a research scientist at GoodRx. She's a trained public health epidemiologist interested in statistical modeling and survey development in the public health space, typically focusing on noncommunicable diseases.
She also has experience designing and running clinical trials and employing and analyzing novel methods of data collection, including ecological momentary assessment.
Dr. Guttentag has researched a wide range of topics, from prescription drugs to tobacco use to the built environment. She has been published in leading academic journals including the International Journal of Health Services, Journal of Nicotine and Tobacco Research, and Environment International. She has also served as a reviewer for the Society of Behavioral Medicine and the Journal of Medical Internet Research. She is a member of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.
Dr. Guttentag is also interested in international health and sustainable tourism/volunteerism. She has performed research at institutions worldwide including the Federal University of the Pampa in Bagé, Brazil; the Institute of Public Health at the University of Porto, Portugal; and the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama. She also sits on the board of the nonprofit Give A Day Global, which facilitates one-day-long volunteer opportunities abroad for travelers to give back to the communities they visit.
Dr. Guttentag received her undergraduate degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University and her doctorate degree in public health (epidemiology) from New York University. She completed a Fulbright Fellowship at the Federal University of the Pampa, Bagé, Brazil (2015) and a visiting scholarship at the Institute of Public Health at the University of Porto, Portugal (2017). She also completed research in nutritional health with the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (2012). During her graduate studies, she was awarded an National Institutes of Health T-32 training fellowship.
