Experience

Alex Evans, PharmD, MBA, has been a pharmacist for 12 years. His first job was floating in a community chain pharmacy. He then spent 3 years managing a long-term care and hospice pharmacy and 2 years managing a different chain pharmacy. He then came to Jacksonville, where he has been with Ascension Health since. 

At Ascension, Alex managed an outpatient pharmacy for 4 years before moving into a project management role, where he helps with implementing new service lines, accreditation and licensing, revenue cycle, and the standardizing of operations across all retail pharmacies. 

Alex has precepted and guest lectured at the University of Hawaii at Hilo (UH-Hilo) pharmacy school and precepted students from University of Florida, Florida A&M University, University of South Florida, and Nova Southeastern University. 

He is the founder of PharmCompliance.com, a site dedicated to helping pharmacists better understand compliance and operations. He is also a strong supporter of Dispensary of Hope and the recipient of their Network Ambassador Award. He also received the Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) Preceptor of the Year award in 2012 from UH-Hilo. He has published three peer-reviewed papers, which can be found on his portfolio

Alex served on the board of directors of Safest Drug and is a current advisory board member for VendRx.

Education

Alex graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science in biology. While there, he was a recipient of their Student Excellence Award. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a Master of Business Administration from West Texas A & M University. He was also board certified in geriatrics from 2014 to 2019 and has completed certificate courses in medication therapy management, 340b administration, and healthcare quality.
