Key takeaways:

  • With a CVS flu shot appointment, you get free or discounted vaccines.

  • Even without insurance, you can get additional discounts for your 2021 flu shot.

  • Those insured through Medicare Part B should be able to get the CVS flu shot for free once per year.

GoodRx is partnering with CVS to help people book their flu shot appointments for the 2021 flu season.

CVS flu shots are free with insurance, as is the case with most pharmacies. For the uninsured, many pharmacies have programs offering discounted flu shots, in addition to in-store discounts. Without insurance, you’ll pay more out of pocket.

If you don’t have insurance, here’s how much you’ll pay for quadrivalent and senior-dose flu vaccines (the most-commonly-prescribed flu vaccines) at some popular pharmacies. You can learn more about the different types of flu shots here.

GoodRx is working with leading U.S. pharmacy chains to get you low prices for your flu shot. Prices offered through the GoodRx Flu Vaccine Program include the administrative fee, a fee that’s commonly charged for giving the flu shot. Learn more about GoodRx’s flu vaccine program here.

Free flu shots through clinics, community organizations, and public health departments

Many health departments and free clinics offer low-cost or free flu shots across the U.S. Here are a few examples:

  • Most colleges offer free flu shots for their students. Check on your school’s website to confirm.

  • Military veterans enrolled in health care through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs can get a flu shot at their nearest VA health care facility. This program does not apply to family members of veterans.

  • Many county health departments offer free, or discounted, flu vaccinations during flu season. Examples include:
