Dena Westphalen, PharmD, serves as the director of scientific affairs for Cogent Biosciences, a biotechnology company developing treatments for genetically driven diseases. Westphalen’s career spans over 15 years with experience in research and hospital settings.
Westphalen started clinical practice in custom compounding, developing individualized medications for people and pets, and found a love for clinical research when creating medications and formulations for clinical trials.
After working for several years in a community hospital, Westphalen started working at Cogent Biosciences helping to develop new oncology (cancer) medications by educating clinical trialists and supporting clinical trial enrollment. In their current role, they support the clinical development and strategy of novel molecules to treat cancer.
In addition to their full time work, Westphalen has worked with several organizations to create medical and drug information over the last 8 years and loves the challenge of creating medical information that is digestible for anyone who needs it.
Dena Westphalen received their Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from Creighton University.
