GoodRx beats insurance copays up to 37% of the time. Search your prescription before every trip to the pharmacy to make sure you pay the lowest price.
You can use a GoodRx discount instead of your prescription insurance or Medicare if the cost is lower. However, GoodRx cannot be combined with your insurance or any federal or state-funded program such as Medicare or Medicaid. GoodRx is not insurance.
If you choose to use a GoodRx coupon or your GoodRx Gold membership, it’s important to ask the pharmacist not to run your prescription through your insurance or Medicare.
It’s simple, see which has the lowest price.
Check your insurance price
Use the ‘Price a Medication’ feature on your insurance company’s online portal.
Check GoodRx prices
Search your medication to find the lowest price at nearby pharmacies.
Pick the lowest price
Whether that’s insurance or GoodRx, pay the lowest price at the pharmacy every time.
Insurance companies use lists of drugs, called formularies, to price different drugs. If your medication is on a higher formulary tier or is a non-preferred drug, it can mean a higher copay or no coverage at all.
Paying with a GoodRx coupon is considered an “out-of-network” purchase, and it’s up to the insurance company to decide if they’ll pay you back.
So, while we can’t promise you’ll get reimbursed, it can be worth trying. Here’s how:
Get your receipts together
Fill out your insurer’s prescription reimbursement form (see list below)
Mail (or fax) the form and copies of your receipts
