Recall of Recombivax HB

by Elizabeth Davis on July 8, 2013 at 9:54 am

The manufacturer of the Recombivax HB vaccine for Hepatitis B has issued a voluntary recall of one lot (lot number J001183) of the vaccine due to the possibility of cracked vials in the lot. The recalled lot was distributed by the manufacturer between March 12, 2013 and May 2, 2013.

The supply of Recombivax HB will not be affected by the recall, and if you’ve recently received the vaccine, you don’t need to be re-vaccinated—the recall is precautionary, because the sterility of any vaccine in a cracked vial can’t be assured.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
