IOBENGUANE I 131 treats pheochromocytoma, a tumor in the adrenal glands. It may also be used to treat paraganglioma, a tumor that forms in nerve cells. It works by releasing energy (radiation) to slow or stop the spread of cancer cells or other irregular cells. Compare radiopharmaceutical.

What should I tell my doctor?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
- High blood pressure
- Kidney disease
- Thyroid disease
- An unusual or allergic reaction to iobenguane I-131, other medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- Pregnant or trying to get pregnant
- Breast-feeding
How should I use this drug?
This medication is infused into a vein. It is given by a care team in a hospital or clinic setting.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. While it may be given to children as young as 12 years for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
What if I miss a dose?
Keep appointments for follow-up doses as directed. It is important not to miss your dose. Call your care team if you are unable to keep an appointment.
