Elizabeth Davis - June 03, 2013

The FDA has made an advisory against the off-label use of magnesium sulfate to stop pre-term labor in pregnant women for more than 5 – 7 days, and added a new warning about possible harm to the developing baby.

Use of magnesium sulfate in pregnant women for longer than 5 – 7 days can lead to low calcium levels and bone problems in the developing baby, including thin bones and fractures.
