What is Diabetes Type 1?

Diabetes type 1 is a condition in which the body does not produce enough insulin resulting in high blood sugar levels. Insulin is important for controlling blood sugar levels. Symptoms include thirst, hunger, fatigue, weight loss, and increased urination.

Treatment for diabetes type 1 includes hospitalization, insulin, medication, diet, and exercise. Common drug classes used to treat diabetes type 1 are insulins and amlyn analogues.
