Combivent Respimat (ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate) is a beta-2 agonist / anticholinergic combination used to treat COPD. The combination of ipratropium and albuterol eases constriction of the airways by relaxing the surrounding smooth muscle. Combivent Respimat replaces the Combivent metered-dose inhaler, which was taken off the market to comply with the Clean Air Act. There is no generic alternative available. However, DuoNeb (generic ipratropium/albuterol) has the same combination of active ingredients for use with a nebulizer.
