Azilect is part of the MAOIs class and treats Parkinson's Disease. MAOIs are used to treat depression and Parkinson's disease by inhibiting the chemical monoamine oxidase (MAO) to help elevate mood and by increasing levels of of a certain chemical that slows down the progression of Parkinson's disease. Azilect is only available as a brand name drug.
