What is Adrenal Insufficiency?

Adrenal insufficiency occurs when the kidneys do not produce enough of the hormones cortisol or aldosterone. Symptoms include weakness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and hypoglycemia.

Treatments for adrenal insufficiency include intravenous fluids and steroids. Common drug classes used to treat adrenal insufficiency are corticosteroids and alpha agonists (ProAmatine).
